Five Winners Announced for the SCBWI Book Launch Awards

SCBWI is proud to announce the winners of our Book Launch Awards.

The Book Launch Award (PAL) provides two traditionally published authors or illustrators with a $2,000 grant to aid in the promotion of an upcoming or recently published book. This year’s winners were K.X. Song for AN ECHO IN THE CITY (Little, Brown) and Henry Herz for I AM SMOKE (Tilbury House).

The newly created Independently Published Book Launch Award provides authors or illustrators with $2,500 in funds to help with the promotion of a new self-published work. These winners were Tonya Ellis for SOPHIE WASHINGTON: LEMONADE DAY and Nicole Kohr for MY PANTS.

Also new this year is the Independently Published Pre-Publication Grant, which provides a children’s book creator with $2,500 to help off-set the price of publishing a promising project. The inaugural winner was Zulfa Adiputri for WHAT’S IN YOUR PLATE?

Congratulations to these talented winners–we can’t wait to see your new books on shelves everywhere.
