London Ladd was born and raised in Syracuse, New York. Comic
books had an impact on his early art life.
After high school, London enrolled at Onondaga Community
College then transferred to Syracuse University, where
he
received his BFA in illustration.
Soon after graduation London launched his career painting local murals and illustrating
magazine articles and album covers. His big break came when he was hired
to illustrate the picture book March On! The Day My Brother Martin
Changed the World (Scholastic), written by Christine King Farris, the older sister
of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Since then London has illustrated numerous children’s books.
