Illustrator Gallery - Monica McFawn
Monica McFawn is a writer, artist, and performer living in Michigan. Her debut short story collection, Bright Shards of Someplace Else, won a Flannery O’Connor Award and was named an NPR “Great Read” and a Michigan Notable Book. Her fiction writing for adults has also earned her a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship in Literature in 2016, as well as other fellowships and citations. McFawn’s illustrations have appeared on the cover of national literary magazines, and her stop motion paper animations and miniature art have appeared in galleries, including the Small Wonders miniature film festival in Detroit. McFawn also writes and performs comedy and satire; most recently her comedy sketch, Baby’s Carbon Footprint, was chosen to be performed at the Mary Scruggs Works by Women Festival at Second City. She is an Associate Professor of English at Northern Michigan University, where she teaches playwriting, screenwriting and fiction.
