I have always had a passion for creating; to the point that I became a high school art teacher. It was through my search for projects for my art club that I discovered a new passion of creating sock dolls, which I call Mizzles. The Mizzles instantly became inspiration for paintings and story ideas at a time when i hadn’t been practicing my art. I had no idea that it would lead to me exhibiting my work, participating in art walks, sharing my work online, and working on my MFA in illustration. In making my Mizzle dolls and creating the illustrations, I discovered the essence of myself in embracing and nurturing my inner child; the fun of watching people interact with my dolls and illustrations, and see them embrace their own inner child. That is why I love children’s books.
