Tomoko is an author-illustrator living in Austin, TX by way of a tiny little town on Rt. 66 in New Mexico. Her name might not sound like it grew up in the Southwest and that’s because her parents asked her obaachan to help name her when she was born. The name “Tomoko” can mean many things, but hers is written with the kanji for “bringing people together” or “friendliness”. She’s been writing and drawing stories about magic and alternate realities ever since she realized that sitting and drawing meant she didn’t have to stand and tower over everyone else. Tomoko loves moments of wonder that make the everyday feel like a muffin with icing. She also loves muffins with icing.
