I have been drawing ever since I can remember. Growing up in suburbia, staying outside for hours, I have many rich memories of playing make-believe games with my friends…finding secret special places, climbing trees. I’d come up with a way to be the artist, drawing elaborate hairdos for the sign when we played Beauty Salon or hand-lettering an entire menu to play Restaurant. And there was the time I drew a detailed map of an imaginary country, tea-tinted it to look old, and we pretended to be from there. My favorite medium when I was a child was ball point pen on white cardboard. Walking through the house backwards with a mirror, to see how it would look in reverse, was another activity I was fond of. Eventually, I went to Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia and Rome, and earned a BFA in printmaking. Later I worked on silk, painting textile designs for the apparel industry; I still love to create patterns, and they tend to find their way into my illustration, but I work mostly digitally on my iPad now. I live near New York City, in lovely little Weehawken , NJ.
