As a little girl I constantly asked my mother to trace over my favorite Black Beauty illustrations so that I could color them in, dreaming of creating my own pictures for the stories I loved. Animals have always been my favorite subjects to draw and paint, and my life is filled with many, including a beautiful Morgan mare, and two opinionated cats who have me very well trained.
I have illustrated over 35 books for children and adults for mainstream publishers. These include the Wind Dancers Series for Feiwel and Friends; three book-theater-paper doll sets for Peter Pauper Press: Welcome to the White House, The Night Before Christmas, and The Nutcracker Ballet; and The Snake’s Diary and Kingii for Teacher Created Materials.
I have also designed and illustrated five books for self-published authors, three picture books and two chapter books, all of which have won awards, including:
Jilly’s Terrible Temper Tantrums AND How She Outgrew Them, published in Spring 2017 won a NAPPA Award, a Mom’s Choice Award and four Purple Dragonfly awards including Best Picture Book for ages 6 and older.
The Land of Walloo, a whimsical, bilingual (Spanish) picture book released in September 2016, was nominated for the Northern California Book Award in Children’s Literature and won two honorable mention Purple Dragonfly awards.
Mommy, Daddy, I had a Bad Dream, which won 13 honors and awards, received the 2013 IBPA (Independent Book Publishers Association) Ben Franklin Gold Children’s Book Award.
