LauraJune grew up in New England’s wild countryside, with cottage gardens for her playrooms and bunnies, chicks and kittens for pets. Her work is strongly strongly inspired by memories of these long-gone days, similar moments recreated with her own little ones, and a treasured collection of vintage picture books.
LauraJune has a Children’s Book Illustration certificate from the Rhode Island School of Design, and has studied picture book writing and illustration at Pratt Manhattan. Most recently she completed a mentorship in classic oil painting illustration with Greg Manchess, renowned author-illustrator of Above the Timberline (Gallery / Saga Press 2017). Laura June has received awards and recognitions for author-illustrated work at SCBWI’s national conferences and contests (People’s Choice illustration award; Kimberley Colen award finalist for picture book author-illustrator), as well as Connecticut’s emerging writers contest in the picture book author-illustrator category. She is also a prize-winning poet with work published in the New York Poetry forum.
LauraJune currently resides in the greater New York City area with her three teens, a fuzzy and frenetic french bulldog named Daisy, and many overflowing bookcases.
