Laurie O’Keefe has been working independently as a medical and scientific illustrator for over 20 years. She specializes in creating visuals combining traditional and digital mediums to produce accurate illustrations that communicate and educate. Laurie holds a B.S. in Zoology, and a M.S. in Anatomy, with a concentration in Bio-medical illustration, from Colorado State University.
She is a Board Certified Medical Illustrator. Her work has appeared in over 100 science related trade and educational text books, with additional markets ranging from magazines, advertising, museum, zoo, medical-legal and interpretive exhibits, to presentations, and websites. Scientific exhibit illustrations are currently featured at the Smithsonian (Hall of Mammals), Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History, and Oregon Zoo. She works on a wide range of subjects and is equally happy with medical art and natural science inspired topics, but is most passionate about animals and nature themes. Laurie lives and works from her home studio located on Orcas Island ( WA), along with her husband and Samoyed dog companions.
