Illustrator Gallery - Liz Anelli
I make pictures using collage and printmaking, paint and pencils, collecting ephemera on my travels to weave into stories. Delighting in complex city scenes I am also well known for large scale illustrated maps. But most of all I love to draw – anytime, anywhere. From drawing over dad’s electrical circuit diagrams to documenting dinosaurs at London’s Natural History Museum I have a ceiling-high stack of sketchbooks full of inspirations from around the world. English by birth, I live in Newcastle, Australia with husband Mario.Extensively recognised for my picture books:
‘Desert Lake‘ (Walker Books) won the ASO Librarians Choice Award 2016, CBCA Notable Book and was short-listed for the NSW Premier’s Literary Award, NSW Premier’s History Awards, the Environment Award for Children’s Literature and the Educational Publishing Awards. ‘One Photo, (Dad’s Camera,) was shortlisted CBCA Picture Book of The Year 2017. ‘Ten Pound Pom’ won the Educational Publishing Awards and was shortlisted as Picture Book of The year 2018. Other picture books are ‘Maddie’s First Day,’ ‘Howzat!’, ‘Dry to Dry’, ‘The Biscuit Maker’ and ‘Grace and Katie’. I also illustrate Junior fiction. I regularly deliver talks and workshops with schools, festivals and conferences and review picture books for CBCA Reading Time.
I am Board Director of ASA and Committee Member of CBCA and SCBWI Australia East & NZ. Fiona Kenshole of Transatlantic Agency represents me for her picture books and The Children’s Bookshop & Speakers Ink Speaking Agencies for public engagements in Australia.
