I’m an eternal student, lover of spooky things, and I love weird and underutilized words. I have also been collecting (and occasionally accidentally stealing) pens since I was about 10.
After writing The Littlest Grape, Veins in My Thumbs, and Queen Kong, I started middle school. I kept writing and drawing, but went to college for business. I became an editorial makeup artist and worked for Sony, Nancy Brown, and other wonderful clients. Then I raised my son. During that time I was lucky enough to take a few private drawing/perspective lesson with Bob Budiansky, of Transformers fame, and had to deal with the knowing I would never draw as well as he does. It was fine–my creativity was sparked and on I went.
I started writing and drawing again.
A book I illustrated, The Open Pillow, was featured recently at The Eric Carle Museum of Storybook Art for a special Storytime Weekend.
I am currently writing picture books and short fairy tales…and loving life.
