Mili Fay, an award-winning artist and author/illustrator graduated from Sheridan College Classical Animation (2005). Working, she was happily floating on the ocean of ideas when the waves rose up and began tossing the dory about. Fearing the ideas would drown her if she did not take action, she created Mili Fay Art (2011) with a vision of using her art and stories to help others. She turned to writing and illustrating only to find the publishing doors barred to her due to her lack of trade experience. Undeterred, wishing to learn all she could about the process and to prove her worth, Mili self-published Animals In My Hair (2013). Coinciding with her vision, she intended to use the profits to raise funds for endangered animals via the Toronto Zoo. Animals In My Hair was chosen out of 700+ international applicants to be presented at TD Stage at INSPIRE! Toronto International Book Fair (2014), it reached the most-borrowed status at the highly competitive Toronto Public Library as well as the Brampton Public Library, and to this day it maintains a 5-star rating on Amazon.
Within the past decade, Mili continued to self-publish. She travelled the world, freelanced as an illustrator, painted portraits, sang in a choir, and finished the first book in her epic, high fantasy series, Warriors of Virtue, while establishing her brand and steadily growing her online following.
At the moment she is working on Just Dance, a picture book about a young ballerina named Ellen who solves all problems by dancing until she may never dance again. Inspired by her sister’s and her own experience, the story shows how even though life may derail our dreams we should never give up dreaming.
Mili is currently seeking representation. You can find out more about Mili and her work at artofmili.ca.
