IPOC Women’s Scholarship–Winter

 

The IPOC Women’s Scholarship is awarded each winter to two Indigenous or People of Color who identify as women. This grant is generously sponsored by Christopher Paul Curtis. (The next summer scholarship, sponsored by Matt de la Pena, will open in Spring 2020.)


 

Deadline: Submissions are now open and will close on Thursday, December 5

 

Award: Two winners will receive an all-expense paid trip to the SCBWI New York Winter Conference. This includes conference tuition, hotel accommodation, travel expenses, and a $250 stipend to cover additional costs. After the conference, winners will receive two follow-up mentorship conversations with an industry professional.

 

Guidelines:

This award is open to Indigenous and People of Color who identify as women. All applicants must be current SCBWI members.

Please collect the following information in the body of an email:

1.)  Name

2.)  Membership status

3.)  A statement about why you want to attend the conference

4.) For writers: Up to 500 words of a creative writing sample or a 500 word description of the children’s literature project you want to work on. For illustrators: two images, under 900 pixels each, included as .jpg or .png attachments.
