ABOUT ALICIA SCHWAB

ARTIST STATEMENT

  • Alicia Schwab’s rollicking and delightful stories are filled with active, clever, read-aloud language that are largely influenced by growing up with her family in southern Wisconsin. Alicia’s imagination is inspired by growing up in their home and surrounding forest—an almost secret world immersed with wild things. There, Alicia also spent many happy hours building forts with her siblings and drawing with her older brother.

Alicia’s artwork is an examination of characters in their environments. She creates images with acrylics and pixels that explore the beautiful chaos of childhood. As well as, children’s needs and concerns that are fascinating and sometimes comical. She writes lyrical picture books that play with language and humor because she loves to laugh.
