ABOUT ALISON PEARCE STEVENS
-
I’ve been chased by a trumpeter swan, bitten by a bronze-winged duck, and served as a climbing wall for geckos and baby bats. I used to be a beekeeper and still think pollinators are some of the coolest things on the planet. I write about science and nature for kids, because I’m an educator at heart who loves to share cool things with the world’s most curious people.
I write lots of fun nonfiction: articles, picture books, and middle grade books. I also write middle grade novels. All of my work is inspired by a love of science and nature. I’m a regular contributor to Science News for Students, Highlights, ASK, and other kids’ magazines, and have written for National Geographic Kids Books. My latest is Rhinos in Nebraska: The Amazing Discovery of the Ashfall Fossil Beds (Henry Holt BYR).
ARTIST STATEMENT
As a former scientist, I bring my background into everything I do (because scientists are really just big, curious kids and the natural world is full of incredible things).
