ABOUT AMY LUDWIG VANDERWATER
Amy Ludwig VanDerwater is author of FOREST HAS A SONG (Clarion, 2013), EVERY DAY BIRDS (Scholastic, 2016), and the forthcoming READ! READ! READ! (Wordsong, 2017), WITH MY HANDS (Clarion, 2018), and DREAMING OF YOU (Boyds Mills Press, 2018). Her poems are also featured in numerous anthologies for children.
In terms of professional books for teachers, Amy is co-author of POETRY: BIG THOUGHTS IN SMALL PACKAGES (Heinemann, 2012) and the forthcoming POEMS ARE TEACHERS: HOW STUDYING POETRY STRENGTHENS WRITING IN ALL GENRES (Heinemann, 2017).
A former fifth grade teacher, Amy has taught writing to teachers and students for eighteen years and happily blogs at The Poem Farm, a popular website full of poems and writing ideas. She lives in an old farmhouse in Holland, NY with her husband Mark, their three teenagers Hope, Georgia, and Henry, and many pets.
