ABOUT ANDREA OFFERMANN

  • Andrea Offermann is the illustrator of many books for children and young adults such as “Some Snow Is…” by Ellen Yeomans, J.A.White’s “The Thickety” series, M.T. Anderson’s “Yvain – The Knight of the Lion” and more. She was born and raised in Cologne, Germany, and graduated from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California with a Bachelors degree in illustration.

Originally interested in pursuing a career in fine art, one of her first opportunities to illustrate a book was entering the worldwide competition to illustrate Yann Martel’s “Life of Pi” in 2006. Her art came in second place, and working on this incredible book started her love for illustrating stories.

Her work has been recognized by the Society of Illustrators (for Sequential Art), 3×3, American Illustration and Communication Arts, among others. In 2013 she received the SCBWI Portfolio Showcase grand prize, and in 2014 the “Children’s Choice Award” of the Austrian Children’s Book Award for “Der Eisdrache”.

Andrea is represented by Sean McCarthy at Sean McCarthy Literary Agency.
