ABOUT BARBARA BOTTNER
I published my first childrens picture book (with Putnams,) which I wrote and illustrated in the early 70’s. Since then I’ve published over 40 books including a middle grade and two YA novels. I’ve also written, produced and designed award-winning short animated films for Sesame Street. Several of my picture books were also animated for TV or short films. I’ve written for television, both sit com and After School Specials, and sold several feature length movie scripts. As a journalist, I had a column in the Miami Herald’s Tropic about men and women; also published short stories to Cosmopolitan and other magazinea. I was a Contributing Editor to the LAWEEKLY. One of the most rewarding activities has been as a teacher of writing for children. I received a ‘Distinguished Teacher Award’ from the New School of Social Research in 1990. My most well-known titles are Bootsie Barker Bites and Wallace’s Lists, Miss Brooks Loves Books, illustrated by Michael Emberley. I have been teaching a master class in my from my home h Los Angeles since 2005. I also write for salons around town and occasionally perform spoken word.
