• I’ve got 16 books in print (or almost in print) so far, with 5 whimsical e-books on the way. My three chapter books with Lerner came out in 2015, my four “One World, Many Countries” chapter book series came out in 2016, my two teen titles with ReferencePoint Press on Teen Phobias and Careers in Software Engineering were 2017, my YA with Rosen came out Fall 2014, two picture books with TunTun are due eventually, and my four picture books with Picture Window Books came out in 2006. Whew. You can find out more about my books, and me, at www.BitsyKemper.com

In my prior corporate life, I helped run a multi-million dollar, national program about family computing. You’d probably say it was a marketing program cleverly disguised as an educational program, and I’d agree, but it *did* help ease parental worries :-). I co-wrote a nationally-syndicated newspaper column along with the program, and then went on to write my own newspaper column for a few years. Eventually I turned reporter for several California newspapers, and wrote books in between articles. I’ve been interviewed in literally hundreds of media outlets, including live on CNN (twice), on national radio, in national books (including Writing Children’s Books for Dummies) (“how appropriate,” you might say), magazines and newspapers, blah blah…

As an accomplished and enthusiastic presenter and speaker, I’ve enjoyed merging my PR and marketing expertise with my writing. When not knee deep in my own manuscripts, or yelling at raising three kids (four if you count my husband), I enjoy presenting at schools, events, and writers conferences across the U.S. My most recent focus has been helping other writers create social media and marketing plans so they can get more media (and reader) attention. Who doesn’t want that?!

Currently a columnist for “California Kids!” Magazine, I interview the authors and illustrators behind today’s leading picture books.

I also dedicate time as a volunteer Regional Advisor for the North/Central CA region of SCBWI (canorthcentral.sbwi.org), where there are about 400 members spanning 35 counties. I help bring them workshops, conferences, webinars, critique programs, and all around camaraderie. I love the #writerslife!

  • Don’t be the change. Be the two dollar bill.

[Hahaha I just made that up. Ah, good times.]
