ABOUT CARLOS DE LA GARZA
I’ve been an elementary art teacher for 21 years. Several years ago, I decided to get serious about my art and trying to become an illustrator. I began illustrating a book for a local author. It was my first real step forward and a realistic look at the time and dedication it would take to make this dream a reality. Thanks to the SCBWI website, I was approached by Clear Fork Publishing and asked to illustrate the upcoming book, Daddy Can You See the Moon, by Gayle C. Krause. I am so happy to know something I created is going to be published and made available for others to see. If I ever had doubts that this was something I wanted to do, they are gone. This is what I want to do with my life.
I love to draw. I remember painting way back in kindergarten, and I’ve never lost that love to make art. Even at my most frustrating moments, I’d rather be making art than doing anything else.
