• Howdy!

I’m CS Jennings. I’m an illustrator and author living in Austin, Texas. Creativity, design, storytelling, collaboration—these are the things that get me excited.

I’m the Austin chapter Illustrator coordinator.

I love writing and illustrating for children. I’ve illustrated 20+ books for major publishers.

I wrote Hello, Texas! (Sterling Publishing). I was the author-illustrator of the picture book Animal Band (also Sterling Publishing). I illustrated From An Idea to Disney, on the Texas Bluebonnet Master List 2020-2021. I’ve drawn books for Penguin Group Books, Houghton Mifflin, Scholastic, Stone Arch Books, and Sterling Publishing, to name a few (see below for the full list). I love collaborating with art directors and editors. (I especially enjoy the revision process of the book. Weird, I know.) Storytelling has always inhabited my drawing. As I write more, my stories find their expression in words.

I do a ton of illustration for the children’s markets, but I go wherever my pencil will take me. Publishing, gaming, editorial, advertising, entertainment, commercial, apparel, apps, greeting cards—yep, I’ve pretty much done everything that has to do with drawing.

  • When people see my work, I hope they find a smile. I hope when someone encounters my drawings or writing, they laugh. Joy is what I want to convey, healing and hope too. It’s always been that way for me. It just what comes out when I work. I think that’s why the children’s industry is a fit for me. It’s a place where it’s still ok to smile.
