• Dawn Babb Prochovnic is a recipient of the coveted “Pleasure Reading Award” (her most memorable 5th grade achievement) and the author of 19 books for children including Lucy’s Blooms, Where Does a Cowgirl Go Potty? and Where Does a Pirate Go Potty?,  and The Nest Where I Like to Rest, an Oregon Book Awards finalist. She is a contributing author for Oregon Reads Aloud, a keepsake collection of 25 read-aloud stories by a trove of talented Oregon authors and illustrators, and the founder of SmallTalk Learning, a company that specializes in providing sign language workshops for hearing kids and adults. 

    Dawn’s programs have been featured on KGW News Channel 8 as well as on television news magazines such as AM Northwest and MORE Good Day Oregon. Her work has also been covered in print media such as The Oregonian, The Columbian, Portland Metro Parent, The Dalles Chronicle, and The Valley Times. She speaks regularly at schools, libraries and professional development conferences throughout the Pacific Northwest, and was named 2015 Oregon Library Supporter of the Year by the Oregon Library Association. Dawn holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Communication and is certified through Sign2Me, an internationally recognized network of infant/toddler sign language/baby sign instructors.
