ABOUT DECLAN CLARKE
Declan lives in Galway in the west of Ireland with his wife Jane and their two sons, Jack & Liam. And oh… their two snakes Ra and Zia.
Declan is an Irish writer of children’s adventure tales and YA novels with such titles as ‘Max Stone and the Lost Star of Zirdon‘ (which he co-wrote with his youngest son Liam) and the just completed ‘Shadows of the Second Sun.’ He is currently working with illustrator, Merryman (AKA Dr Kieran Ryan), on completing ‘Vinnie the Mole and the Baby Dragon‘
He has also teamed up with Liza Bolton, Film Director/Producer of Room 12 Productions to explore animation possibilities for Max Stone.
Other live projects include the Graphic Novel, ‘Kane’ which his older son Jack is illustrating and Australian Graphic Designer Ellen McCaffrey, is designing. Two years ago he e-published ‘Willou Mac Wiggle and the Dive-Dive Birds’, illustrated by Rebecca Kane, on iTunes.
Declan is also a Member of the Society for Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators.
Declan has spent most of his career developing commercial ventures from R&D concepts, ideas that add value to society.
Some of his recent successes include www.advancescience.com where they have developed a food that helps bees survive the ravages of the disease which has such huge impact on colony loss around the world. Last year he was part of the team that set up www.connemarafoodventures.ie, a food ingredients company specialising in bringing bioactive ingredients to every day foods such as bread and health bars.
