ABOUT DONNA EARNHARDT

  • I currently serve as Co-ARA for SCBWI Carolinas, homeschool my youngest teen daughter, teach Sunday school, write mysteries, eat chocolate, and herd dust bunnies.

Being Frank is my only picture book published so far (you can find it on Amazon, Books a Million, Barnes and Noble, and at independent bookstores). I have also been published in magazines for children, greeting cards, and on a floor mat (weird, I know).

I read a lot of children’s books and adult books — PBs, (Little Tree and Oothar the Blue are fabulous), chapter books, and cozy mysteries. The Chronicles of Narnia — childhood fave. I’ve read all of the books several times. (C.S. Lewis is a literary hero of mine.)

And if it matters, I really, really enjoy food (my hips don’t lie), but have three favorites: my mama’s southern cooking; Greek food from The Gateway to Athens (Concord NC); and Irish food from my favorite Irish Pub, the Galway Hooker (in Cornelius, NC).

ARTIST STATEMENT

  • “First, I do not sit down at my desk to put into verse something that is already clear in my mind. If it were clear in my mind, I should have no incentive or need to write about it. We do not write in order to be understood; we write in order to understand.”  — C.S. Lewis.
