ABOUT ELLIE I BEYKZADEH
I’m a visual artist. I have a B.A in visual arts (painting) from University of Tehran and a M.A in arts management from George Mason University, Virginia. I’m an avid traveler and photographer.
Having lived and traveled in many places for so long, I learned to put cultural differences into perspective. Reflecting how vulnerable a human’s spirit can be in face of circumstances, I decided to create my first children’s book portraying the girl power through a Persian folktale.
Namaki and the Giant is my first experience as an author and illustrator. I tried to create a world of colors in which girls can make their own choices and save the day too. For illustrating Namaki and the Giant, I was inspired by Persian miniature paintings in terms of colors, layout, and composition as well as classical Persian architecture and costumes.
