ABOUT EMMA BOWD

Emma Bowd is a writer and children’s literacy advocate based in Melbourne, Australia.
An internationally published author of non-fiction and fiction for adults (Bloomsbury, UK), Emma published her first children’s picture book, WONDERFUL SHOES, in 2021 (Windy Hollow Books; illustrated by Tania McCartney). Her next two picture books will be published in 2023 and 2024 with Affirm Press.
Emma is both humbled and thrilled that WONDERFUL SHOES was awarded as a coveted ‘Notable Book’ in the Early Childhood Category, of the 2022 Book of the Year Awards, by The Children’s Book Council of Australia. It has also appeared on the iconic Play School Story Time (ABC Kids TV).
A former Occupational Therapist, Emma is passionate about promoting diversity in children’s literature. She loves to write stories for children with humour, candour and positive themes; and is a strong advocate for children’s literacy in communities of disadvantage with the children’s education charity, Ardoch.
Emma is an experienced classroom presenter, and has been featured in local, national and international print/digital press.
