ABOUT FARIDA MIRZA

  • I am a children’s author. I am also a technical and a creative writer with a background of teaching English and Human Development. I am a past member of the Society for Technical Communication (STC). I do freelance critiquing, writing and editing. The vulnerability of children has always affected me profoundly. A child is completely dependent on adults during the early years. I write stories that help children learn to think logically, rationally, critically and independently. I try to inculcate in children the skill of ‘pausing before reacting’ when faced with a challenging situation. Taking a deep breath as they pause, children can learn to direct their thoughts towards a solution rather than amplify the conflict. Sometimes the response can be not to react at all and that is okay too. It is a tragedy when a child suffers silently. I write stories and poems to empower children and minimize their vulnerability.
