ABOUT GILLIAN TORCKLER

Most days, I’m busy with heart research and echocardiography (my day job!). Whenever possible, I like to spend time underwater diving in the pristine waters that surround my homeland, New Zealand. I write every day: scientific papers; picture books for children; non-fiction books about the sea; travel guides; inspiration gift books for all. Writing is one of my hobbies – others include spinning and weaving, knitting and crochet; walking; travelling; snorkeling and diving; and of course reading. I have three degrees, two kids, one husband and no pets – we’re too busy to look after animals!
Currently I’m trying to complete my first children’s novel.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I like to tell stories that are based in fact. Using real events, and substantial research I create books that are are firmly situated in the real world.
