ABOUT BRIAN GARRISON
-
My non-poetry jobs have allowed me to see the world from many different angles. In no particular order, I have been a/an neuroscience researcher, ice cream truck driver, forklift operator, summer camp counselor, psychology teacher, dish washing technician, literacy advocate, thrift store sorter, statistics guru, computer repair middleman, pizza delivery expert, and a museum mail checker. There are still so many ways of seeing that I have not learned about.I grew up far away from any cities, and have been lucky enough to return for now. I get to play in the creek, climb trees, and chase the deer. When I do make it into the city, you can usually find me at the library or listening to some author at Powell’s Books. Follow me to hear when I have new writing or to see pictures when I find frogs in the pond!
ARTIST STATEMENT
I am a poet with a growing interest in picture books.
My writing reflects the stories that I read: lots of science fiction and fantasy, a smattering of just-plain-ol’-science, and other curiosities. I write for children, adults, and grand adults.
