ABOUT HEATHER GALLAGHER

  • Heather Gallagher is an award-winning
    children’s author and journalist.
    Her books for children include Ferret on the Loose
    (2013) and Happy
    Pants

    Why is mummy so sad?
    (2014). Ferret
    is on the Victorian Premier’s Reading Challenge and Happy Pants was recognised as a recommended title in the Australian
    Family Therapists literature awards, 2015.

    Heather’s next picture book will be published by New
    Frontier Publishing in 2018.

    Her writing for children has also appeared in blackdog
    books Short & Scary anthology,
    Pearson Education’s Explore and Challenge magazines and The Sunday Age.

    She has worked for many years as a journalist with her
    work appearing in The Age, The Big Issue and the Victorian Writer.

    Heather has conducted school visits, including writing
    workshops for kids, and numerous author talks.

    Heather is currently studying Professional Writing and
    Editing at RMIT.

    She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers
    and Illustrators, Writers Victoria, the First Tuesday Book Group and the
    Geelong CYA group.

    She
    lives in a seaside Victorian town with her husband, two daughters and a dog
    called Pip.

  • I love writing picture books and chapter books. I am currently studying Professional Writing and Editing at RMIT with a view to building my craft. I’m also a member of the 12 x 12 picture book writing community and Writers Victoria.
