ABOUT JENNIFER RIESMEYER ELVGREN

  • My  new picture book, THE EDELWEISS PIRATES, was named to Tablet Magazine’s The Best Jewish Children’s Books of 2018 list.


    I am also the author of THE WHISPERING TOWN, which has received the Prairie Pasque Book Award and the Andersen Prize (Italy). It  has been named a Jane Addams Honor book, an ALA Children’s Notable book, a Sydney Taylor Honor book, a National Jewish Book Award finalist and to Booklist’s Top 10 Spirituality and Religion Books for Youth list.


    I am also the author of JOSIAS, HOLD THE BOOK, a Bank Street College Best Books selection, a recipient of the Growing Good Kids: Excellence in Children’s Literature Book Award, and a recipient of the Américas Award for Children’s and Young Adult Literature. My children’s fiction has appeared in Highlights for Children, Ladybug and Spider magazines. I am a former print journalist.


    I live in Albemarle County, Virginia, with my husband, three children, Caspian, the Border Collie, Goodnight Moon, the Quarter Horse, Copperfield, the Foxhound, and Chance, the cat.
