• Jessixa Bagley is picture book author/illustrator most known for her comics work and debut picture book, Boats for Papa. She graduated from Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA with a BFA in painting and printmaking in 2004. Her work has been in publications such as The Chicago Reader, The Comics Journal, The Seattle Weekly and Nickelodeon Magazine. She has been the runner-up recipient of the Portfolio Showcase awards at the 2012 and 2014 Western Washington SCBWI Conferences as well as runner-up for the 2013 NY SCBWI Conference.

    Her first picture book Boats for Papa (A Neal Porter Book published through Roaring Brook Press) received four starred reivews, was a Junior Library Guild Selection for Fall of 2015, and was a selection for the non-profit First Book’s Stories for All Program. She is also the proud recipient of the 2016 Golden Kite Award for best picture book text for Boats for Papa.

    Her second picture book, Before I Leave, is also with Neal Porter, and came out February 2016. She has two upcoming picture books with Roaring Brook, Laundry Day, is due out winter 2017 and Vincent Comes Home, due out winter 2018- her first collaboration with her husband, Aaron Bagley. She works and lives in Seattle, WA with her husband and son.
