ABOUT JOSIE TONEY

  • Hi! I’m Josie Toney, artist, illustrator, designer and lover of all creative and bright things!

    I have my bachelor degree in business administration from the College of Charleston and a master’s degree in design and manufacture, with a specialization in footwear design, from De Montfort University in Leicester, United Kingdom.

    I begin my painting career in 2002 when I started exhibiting for charitable auctions and galleries in South Florida. In 2009, I moved to Savannah, Georgia, where I was an active member of the Savannah Art Association with exhibited works throughout the historic city, including the Savannah International Airport Art Gallery.

    In 2016, my family and I relocated to North Georgia where am an active member of the Chestatee ArtistsBowen Center for the Arts, and the Sautee Nacoochee Cultural Center. My work can be found in local galleries, boutiques, and indie bookstores.

    Inspired by my practice, I also create yoga apparel featuring my art, which can be found at the Yonah Yoga studio in Sautee Nacoochee and is available in my Etsy shop

    I live in Cleveland, Georgia with my supportive husband, adorable son, two dogs, three cats and several chickens. With a passion for education, I work at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega. In my spare time, I enjoy yoga, the outdoors, creating and spending time with my family.

ARTIST STATEMENT

  • My work is whimsical and bright. My mission is to spark the imagination, trigger feelings of nostalgia, serenity, bliss and happiness. All art should evoke emotions, and the goal is for my creations to evoke joy!
