ABOUT KAREN YIN

    I’m an award-winning queer author/illustrator/editor of color and the founder of Conscious Style Guide, the first website dedicated to conscious language. Named by Poynter as one of the top tools for journalists in 2018, Conscious Style Guide is recommended by NASA, Poynter, BuzzFeed, The Chicago Manual of Style, and Jane Friedman, among others.
     
    I also founded the Conscious Language Newsletter, the Editors of Color Database, the Database of Diverse Databases, and AP vs. Chicago. In 2017, I won the ACES Robinson Prize for furthering the craft of professional editing, the second person of color with that honor.
     
    Acclaim for my fiction includes a Lambda Literary Fellowship (LGBTQ+), a Table 4 Writers Foundation grant, an SCBWI Nonfiction Grant, and selection of my flash fiction by the L.A. Public Library for its permanent collection.
     
    I belong to SCBWI, the Authors Guild, and the Dramatists Guild. My partner and I live with our cat friends on a mountain not too far from Los Angeles. Find me at KarenYin.com
