ABOUT KATHI BARON
Kathi Baron is an occupational therapist and a graduate of the Vermont College MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults Program. She has worked with teens in psychiatric crisis and has publications in a variety of occupational therapy journals and books. She lives with her husband and their cat in Evanston, Illinois. SHATTERED is her first novel. She’s available for speaking engagements and will be happy to tailor an event for middle/high school students or adult learners.
I write because not to be doing it, doesn’t feel right. Writing is my way of learning about people, about myself, and discovering the world. One of my favorite parts of writing novels is doing the research and finding out details. I also love playing with language and trying to find the rhythm in a sentence. Lots of writers dislike revising, but I actually enjoy it. Often, characters start to become real on my second or third lap through the narrative. It’s such a beautiful thing when a story comes together!
