ABOUT KRISTEN STROCCHIA
Poetry found me in the second grade. We climbed a lightning-scarred tree, splashed in a forbidden creek, and have been best friends ever since. In 2013, we stumbled through the woods and into the Barn at the Highlights Foundation where the poetry in my life bloomed into a variety of children’s literature endeavors. A full time teacher and mother of seven, I serve as the webinar coordinator for EPA SCBWI. I have been published in Highlights: High Five (July 2019) and am currently revising other children’s verse, PB & MG manuscripts as well as a YA Contemporary Fantasy rooted in my love of trees. When not writing and revising [or quarantined for pandemics], I can be followed around the country on family road trips, trying to reach the ever-elusive states of Washington, Oregon, Alaska, and Hawaii.
In MG & YA, I write speculative fiction, including: contemporary fantasy, magical realism and science fiction. In PB, I write magical realism, retakes on classic nursery rhymes and family stories with both heart and humor.
