ABOUT KRISTI BARTHOLOMEW

  •     Kristi is an author and illustrator based in south Florida. She received a B.F.A in figurative drawing and painting, and a B.A. in Spanish from Alma College in Michigan.  Kristi lived in Spain and Honduras to obtain fluency in Spanish. After graduation, she moved to New York to pursue fashion, earning a design degree from F.I.T.

As an illustrator, Kristi loves creating characters whose expressions, body language, and clothing add depth to their identities.  She relies on her background in figurative art and fashion to achieve this goal.  Design has also provided her with an intuitive sense of color and a love of pattern.

Kristi loves skateboarding, salsa dancing, and cooking- all themes that have inspired manuscripts in work! She grew up on a farm, raising rabbits, chickens, sheep, goats, pigs, and horses and welcomes projects that are full of animals or people.

ARTIST STATEMENT

  •      I love working in both traditional and digital mediums.  In digital art I favor Procreate- but my years in fashion have provided a foundation in Adobe CC, as well.  I like a strong sense of line and enjoy designing page layouts. While I focus on picture books, I am interested in chapter book art and graphic novels, as well.
