A graduate from ASU with a degree in history. Studied creative writing, art, and theatre arts/film (freshman and sophomore year) while attending a liberal/fine arts college. I have continued taking art and writing classes/workshops.
Worked in banking and marketing. Originally from North Carolina, but currently living in Oklahoma. I enjoy the Blue Ridge Mountains, Pawleys Island, SC, and Grand Lake, Oklahoma. When not writing and illustrating, I love all things outdoors, especially running, hiking, tennis, and walking my dog.
- For older children, my writing objective is to offer adventure, suspense, comedy, social awareness, and overcoming challenges. For younger children, my goal is to write thought-provoking/learning themes.
In my chicken book series, I created illustrations in a simplistic style (similar to “Pete the Cat” books) with the intention for the illustrations to stand alone in telling the story. However, there is a text. The goal being, to appeal to very young children, non-verbal children, and to be a fun/quick story for older children. I have many different illustration styles.I strive to write narratives that provide a strong base for creating fun and imaginative illustrations and to engage children with memorable stories.
