ABOUT LIGIN BAKER

  • Ligin Baker graduated from the National Chung Hsing University with a bachelor of arts in foreign literature and languages in Taiwan.  She received her diploma as an honor student with a silver medal from the Swiss Hotel Association Hotel Management School Les Roshes (now the Les Roches International School of Hotel Management) in Switzerland.  Her job experience includes working as an English teacher and hotel manager.  Mrs. Baker has been a member of the American Translators Association since 2008.

    Currently, she works as a conference interpreter.  Mrs. Baker has interpreted for former US President Bill Clinton and George Bush; the founder of Virgin Group, Sir Richard Branson; actors Ben Affleck and Kevin Spacey, as well as global corporate events for companies such as IBM, Nike, HP, Microsoft, Disney, Chrysler, Domino’s Pizza, CTA, etc. 

    In recent years, Mrs. Baker has also regularly served as an onsite simultaneous interpreter for the CES keynote speakers such as the CEOs of Mercedes-Benz, Audi, Ford, Sony, Samsung, GE, Intel, CBS, Netflix, YouTube, etc.

ARTIST STATEMENT

  • Passion for writing and arts, Ligin Baker had her first bilingual book “Martin and His Piglet: A Tale of a Boy’s Inspiration to Art” published in November 2016.  


    Her book is about a unique young man and a pig, which inspired him to the way of art.  The heartwarming and true story took place in southern Taiwan in the mid-1950s.

    It is a 10,000-word book for children of all ages, targeted to preteens and teenagers.  As the daughter of the protagonist, Ligin is very proud and honored to present her father, Martin Chiu, an artist and art teacher to readers all over the world.

    While not working, Mrs. Baker enjoys yoga, reading, writing, photography and walking her dog.
