ABOUT LISA WHEELER

  • Lisa Wheeler began writing for children professionally in 1995 when she sold her first story to Humpty Dumpty magazine. Over twenty years and forty books later, Lisa is living her dream.

    “I love the world of children’s books,” she says. “I love everything about it, even the smell!”

    Lisa has won several awards in the course of her career, including the Texas Bluebonnet award, the Michigan Mitten Award, the Missouri Building Blocks award, the 2008 Theodore Seuss Geisel Honor and most recently, the 2017 Golden Kite for picture book text for The Christmas Boot .

    Lisa currently lives in Michigan with her husband Glen . Her two most recent titles are Dino-Christmas (CarolRhoda), A Hug is for Holding Me (Abrams/Appleseed) and People Don’t Bite People(Atheneum).
