• I am a librarian as well as a writer, and have been Head of Children’s Services at the Stratford Library Association in Stratford, CT for 24 years. I am active in the American Library Association and have served on the Newbery Award Committee, the Carnegie Award/Best Children’s Videos Committee, and several others. I review picture books and YA novels for School Library Journal and have spoken at several library conferences.

I have also done some freelance editing for Kehot Publication Society.

My picture book, The Dreidel that Wouldn’t Spin: A Toyshop Tale of Hanukkah, was published by Wisdom Tales Press in October 2014. I am working on a follow-up book called Esther’s Gragger: A Toyshop Tale of Purim.

Before I published my first children’s book, What Not to Give Your Mom on Mother’s Day, in 2013, I authored 5 professional resource books for librarians and teachers, all published by McFarland & Company. They are:
Bringing Classes into the Public Library: A Handbook for Librarians, co-authored with Lucretia Duwel, 2007.
StoryCraft: 50 Theme-Based Programs Combining Storytelling, Activities and Crafts for Children in Grades 1-3, co-authored with Lynne Perrigo, 2001.
Reading Programs for Young Adults: Complete Plans for 50 Theme-Related Units for Public, Middle School and High School Libraries, 1997.
Environmental Awareness Activities for Librarians and Teachers: 20 Interdisciplinary Units for Use in Grades 2-8, 1995.
Summer Reading Clubs: Complete Plans for 50 Theme-Based Library Programs, 1992.
