ABOUT MARY BETH RICE

  • A lifelong journaler with a master’s degree in Educational Psychology, I actively engage in our regional SCBWI critique group and am co-chair of our weekly shop talks. I am a member of Storystorm and the 12 x 12 Picture Book challenge. My short story, ANGEL VOICES, won a place in Vivian Kirkland’s 2022 #50PreciousWords contest.

I am all about the challenge in chasing wonder and trying to find the slice of joy in our daily round amidst the reality of our heartache and struggle. I am blessed with four children who have given me lots of material for picture books! I hope to infuse my own family experiences in my writing to encourage children and their families.

ARTIST STATEMENT

  • I hope to inspire and encourage readers of all ages through my storytelling. Threads woven throughout may include family traditions & celebrations, adventures in nature, journaling, jars of jam and goodness— warm, sweet and freshly baked right from my oven.

My personal mission:  Encouraging and blessing others joyfully, hopefully and with a deep faith.
