• My professional art career began in 1981 illustrating UNICEF greeting cards. I also write and illustrate children’s trade picture books. I teach about the picture book creative process and about social media marketing. My published illustrations can be found in magazines, on greeting cards, posters, stationery, glass and housewares. I’ve illustrated 17 trade published children’s picture books; six of them I’ve written.

Artist-In-Residence for the Eric Carle Museum of Picture Book Art’s first National Endowment for the Arts Grant. My original picture book illustrations were exhibited at the Brooklyn Central Library with “Ordinary into Extraordinary” a 20 year retrospective solo show in the Youth Wing; and “Drawn in Brooklyn”, a group exhibition. Selected artist for the Texas Library Association’s Disaster Relief Fund raffle.
I love to travel and present art and writing programs for elementary students, book and education professionals at conferences, libraries, museums and schools.

I am also a social media marketing trainer for traditionally published picture books authors and illustrators.

  • When I was a young girl my world vision was shaped in part by looking at picture books. They aided my reading skills by visually identifying objects first before I knew how to read their names.  With that memory in mind, my approach to illustrating picture books is that the art must convey an author’s story in a way that is clear and detailed. My goal is to broaden a child’s vision and help them learn to read.
