Monica Brown, Ph.D., is the award-winning author of over thirty magical multicultural books for children, including Frida and her Animalitos, Waiting for the Biblioburro/Esperando al Biblioburro, Marisol McDonald Doesn’t Match/no combina, Pablo Neruda: Poet of the People, She Persisted: Diana Taurasi, Sharuko: Peruvian Archeologist Julio C. Tello, and the Lola Levine chapter book series, among others. Her newest picture book is El Cuarto Turquesa/The Turquoise Room. Her books have been featured in the New York Times, The Washington post, and on NPR. They have garnered starred reviews, two Américas Awards, and a Christopher Award. She lives in Arizona with her family and teaches Latinx and African American literature at Northern Arizona University. Her books are widely available in bilingual or Spanish editions and have been translated into a dozen languages.
