ABOUT NAZLI TAHVILI

  • Nazli Tahvili is an Iranian illustrator, author, and Graphic designer.

She received her master of art in Illustration at the Academy of fine arts of Bologna, Italy and, graduated in Graphics from the Azad art university of Tehran, Iran.

Nazli started her career as an illustrator. She has illustrated 11 children’s books, some of which have been published worldwide and have earned national and international prizes. Her illustration medium changes based on the feel of the story. She does not limit herself to a fixed medium but uses her experiences and whatever techniques seem appropriate, to help narrate the story.

She is the author and illustrator of 4 picture books, 3 of which are wordless. She loves creating wordless books and believes that stories without words, allow the audience to participate in the narration of the story. Chalk Eagle, one of her wordless books, was nominated by IBBY UK for inclusion in the children’s library at Lampedusa, Italy in 2019.

She lives and works with her husband in Studiosospeso, which means suspended studio. Studiosospeso was located in Tehran, for many years, then in the northern forests of Iran for a few years, where a lot of space allowed them to print and produce books with the silkscreen technique. Following that, it was Bologna, Italy for 3 years and it’s been in California, Irvine since 2018.

Represented by the Storm Literary Agency Since 2022
