ABOUT OLGA HERRERA

  • My name is Olga Herrera, I am an Author and Illustrator of children’s picture books.  I earned my bachelors of Fine Arts from the Ringling College of Art  and Design with a major in Illustration; graduating with honors in 2003.

My work has been displayed by the Society of Illustrators, and the Society of Children’s Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI), of which I have been a member for over 10 years.

I teach illustration, both in traditional and digital techniques, and offer portfolio critiques.

I am bilingual and enjoy the mixture of my Cuban and Ecuadorian cultural roots.  I grew up in Ecuador, a beautifully diverse country that is close to my heart. As a Florida native I traded year round summers for the fun of experiencing every season. I now live in the picturesque state of Maryland with my husband, two children, two dogs, a bearded dragon, and a bunch of fat goldfish.  Life is interesting and fun!

You can find more illustrations and get to see what projects i am working on by following me on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

ARTIST STATEMENT

  • When you do what you love, you love what you do!  I absolutely love visual storytelling – from setting a scene, to the characters themselves. I want children to look at my work and want to go back to it to discover something new every time.
