• My name is Olga Herrera. I am an Author and Illustrator of children’s books. I earned my bachelor’s of Fine Arts from the Ringling College of Art and Design with a major in Illustration, graduating with honors in 2003.

Debut PB:  The Unwelcome Surprise -Winter 2023 publisher Feiwel & Friends

Besides creating my own content, I also teach illustration, both in traditional and digital techniques and offer mentorships and portfolio reviews.

I am bilingual and enjoy the mixture of my Cuban and Ecuadorian cultural roots. I grew up in Ecuador, a beautifully diverse country that is close to my heart. As a Florida native, I traded year round summers for the fun of experiencing every season. I now live in the picturesque state of Maryland. With my husband, two children, two dogs, a bearded dragon, a parakeet name Kiwi, and a bunch of fat goldfish.

You can find more illustrations and get to see what projects i am working on by following me on Instagram (@olgachildrensillustrator), and Twitter(@OlgaIllustrator).

  • When you do what you love, you love what you do!  I absolutely love visual storytelling – from setting a scene, to the characters themselves. I want children to look at my work and want to go back to it to discover something new every time.

Humor is a very important in my work.  I believe humor has more power than we imagine.  It can certainly help us lose ourselves for a minute and allow us to just “be” in the moment.  But it can also be used as  a cozy blanket for comfort during difficult situations.
