ABOUT REBECCA HIRSCH

  • I live in Waukesha, Wisconsin with my husband and two daughters. I have a BFA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

    I have been an active member of SCBWI, attending conferences since 2011, and received “Honorable Mention” for the piece which I entered in our local chapter’s illustrator competition, fall of 2016.
    I also received “Second Runner Up” with my piece in the 2017 Tomie dePaola  SCBWI contest.
    I won the SCBWI-WI Illustrator competition at our fall conference in 2017.
    Illustrated the book PANDA’S PAUSE, by author Dr. Amanda DeSua,  released in November of 2018.
    I received the People’s Choice award for illustration at the Marvelous Midwest conference in May of 2019.
    Illustrated the book, IS IT OVER?, written by Sandy Brehl, released July 2021.
    I am the current IC for SCBWI-WI.
    Illustrated the book SPLASH INTO SAFE SWIMMING, by author Susie Heinzelman, released June 2022.

ARTIST STATEMENT

  • I work digitally but strive to achieve a hand-created look.  I look to capture the essence of childhood in my work, in all it’s shades and emotions.
