ABOUT ROCHELLE GROSKREUTZ
I’ve been a freelance copywriter since 1997 (www.wordsforsale.info) and a children’s writer since 2009 (www.rochellegroskreutz.com). I’m also an active SCBWI member: I’m our Wisconsin
chapter’s Southeast Area Rep, on our conference planning committee, and our diversity
committee’s silent auction coordinator.
I’ve had articles published in AppleSeeds,
FACES, Hopscotch and Highlights, and my debut picture book,
EASTER ELF VS. CHRISTMAS ELF, releases in Spring 2019 with KWiL Publishing.
Honestly, I’m a bit intimidated by an “artist statement”…sounds fancy and like I have to reach a certain level of creative excellence to even have one. So I’ll make it simple: 1) I think. 2) Fill notebooks, scrap paper and unused napkins from my van’s glovebox with ideas. 3) Write. 4) Tweak–I think it sounds brilliant! 5) Return to it–it sounds lame. 6) I repeat (to the Nth power) all steps above until I think it’s ready to submit.
