ABOUT SALLIE WOLF

  • Sallie Wolf is a writer and artist who lives and works in Oak Park, IL. She uses her training in Anthropology (Brown University, BA, 1972, Phi Beta Kappa) to take field notes on the world around her. She uses her art training, (The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, BFA, 1997) to translate those notes into projects that make sense of the data. She is the author of The Robin Makes a Laughing Sound: A Birder’s Observations, (Imagine! imprint of Charlesbridge), Truck Stuck, illustrated by Andy Robert Davies, (Charlesbridge, 2008), and Peter’s Trucks, illustrated by Cat Bowman Smith, (Albert Whiteman, 1992; now available as print on demand through Amazon.com.). ARTIST STATEMENT

  • All my art and writing begins in my journals. Rough drafts of stories and poems and sketches that become the basis of larger art work are sprinkled through my daily ruminations. Whether writing or drawing, I rely on personal observation to inspire my ideas.
