ARTIST STATEMENT

  • As a children’s book writer and illustrator, I employ bright and cheerful colors to give children the same sense of joy and wonder that I had growing up. I write and illustrate stories with playful and imaginative characters that both young and old can enjoy by putting them in narratives that not only make children happy, but also help them understand the world around them. My work is mostly digital, but I sometimes work in traditional media if it better fits the concept and narrative of the story.

I not only like to create work that is enjoyable for people of all ages, but I love to imagine and illustrate stories relating to current events that are greatly personal to me. I am quite an environmental advocate and I have a passion to educate others, especially the youth, about environmental concerns and how we can be part of the solution. I also believe it to be incredibly important to reach out to the children who are struggling with interpersonal relations, home life, unfavorable experiences, or self-identity. I also fight for equality and representation for all, and I do my best to apply those in my work.
